🌟SPEEDWELL🌟 Our Speedwellians have worked very hard this week! We are amazed that they still have energy left after such a busy half term! In Literacy we finished reading Lost and Found, we discussed what message the book was giving and then looked at the features of a letter ready to create our final piece of work. In Maths we have explored subtraction and fact families. In Computing we compared pointillism using an iPad and real paint and considered which we preferred and why. We began to learn a new skill in PE - French skipping! We worked well in threes and took turns. Just 1 week to go- we can do it Speedwell! Have a wonderful weekend. Mrs Ball & Mrs Clarke

Happy Friday from Poppy Class! This week in literacy, we used a dictionary to find definitions for our ambitious vocabulary. In Science, we finished our magnets and forces topic by looking at everyday objects that contain magnets, we were so surprised by how many everyday objects we could think of! In music, we are continuing to work incredibly hard in our ukulele lessons. Have a lovely weekend, one more week to go!

What a great week in Willow this week! In Literacy, we have been working super hard on our mystery narratives, it has been great to see the children’s effort with their writing, they are applying the skills taught and thinking carefully about sentence structure and punctation. In PE, we recapped our handball techniques before competing in a handball match. In Science, we thought about real life objects and why certain materials are used, looking at their specific purposes. In Geography, the children were engaged in our discussions about threats to our oceans, they thought carefully about how we can keep our oceans healthy and designed a poster to share this with others. A busy, but good week! Super proud of you Willow!

In Oak class this week we have begun to write our mystery stories in literacy. We finished reading our class book, 'Pig Heart Boy' in reading-a lot of children where unhappy because there is no sequel to the book and they want to know what happens next. In Computing we looked at how your search on a search engine is influenced. In PE we had a go at orienteering and finished the week with benchball.

We’ve had a brilliant week in Elder this week! In PE, we held a class handball tournament, applying all of the skills we have developed over this half term. In Literacy, we have been hard at work on our mystery narratives – thinking very carefully about sentence structure and working hard on punctuation. In Science, we thought about real life objects and why certain materials are used for specific purposes. In Geography, we discussed some of the key threats to our oceans and thought about how to keep them healthy. We finished our week off with a trip to the library to complete a book hunt in pairs. I’m so proud of everyone in Elder this week!

One more week to go! In Rose this week, we have been reading the narrative Lost and Found and today we learnt about the features of a letter because we are going to write a letter to the boy from the penguin. In Maths we have been subtracting and finding the difference. In PE, we practised French skipping while in Computing we painted a picture and thought about whether we prefer actual painting or creating digital pictures. Have a super weekend, see you next week!

⭐ Our week in Bluebell ⭐ This week we have been observing the weather and the seasonal changes. We have looked at different weather types and looked at how the trees have been changing. We have enjoyed looking at the different colours we can see in the leaves as well their shapes, size and textures. We used leaves to make tree pictures, printing, rubbings and enjoyed laminating them to make a window display. Have a look at our classroom door to see our wonderful artwork! In math’s we have looking at the number 5, we played counting games and enjoyed a spot of bowling today to see how many of the five pins we could knock down. In phonics we have been listening carefully to initial sounds in words and using our ‘Robot Arms’ to sound out familiar words. We had our first Developmental Movement Play session, we enjoyed going to the hall and taking part in a Jungle Adventure! We had to use our bodies to move like different jungle animals, we loved doing this! ⭐ Reception! ⭐ This week, we enjoyed reading 'Shark in the Park'. The children joined in with the repeated phrases and explored rhyming words. They practised spotting rhymes, creating their own rhyming pairs and even writing simple rhyming sentences. We also had lots of thoughtful discussions about courage, kindness and celebrating our differences. In maths, we have been comparing groups of objects, using language such as more, fewer and the same, and explaining how we know. Well done everyone! - Mr Cook, Miss Allen and the rest of the Reception staff!

Snowdrop have had another lovely week! In literacy, we have been looking at speech and possessive apostrophes and we are now moving onto planning the alternative ending of the Kapok tree. We have explored magnet strength in science and made comparisons of two different places in America. We explored various throwing techniques in PE, had a lovely time dancing at the Halloween disco and are getting very excited now the half-term is approaching!

A Fang-tastic Night at Grove! 🧛🎃👻 We all had a frightfully good afternoon at Grove, boogying away at our Halloween Disco! Children were joined by our fantastic DJ to party, laugh and dress up with their friends in preparation for Halloween. We know we're a little early, but we had the best time! A huge thank you to our wonderful PTFA for organising yet another terrific event for our children. We'd also like to thank all of our staff for giving up their time to support the event and help make it so special. They were certainly great role models when it came to those dance moves! 🕺💃🎶

We’ve had a great week in Elder this week! We started off with a visit from Animal Guyz ; we got to learn about a range of different animals. In Literacy this week, we’ve planned and started writing our own mystery narratives inspired by ‘The Mysteries of Harris Burdick’. In PE, we worked together to complete an orienteering challenge using a map to find the answer to a code. In Science, we experimented with different materials to see which were absorbent, durable and flexible in order to find the most versatile material. We also finished our book from this half term ‘The Final Year’, which the children have really enjoyed – we explored other books with a similar theme in our Library slot this week. Well done for all your hard work this week Elder!

We are very proud of our Key Stage 1 children this week who competed in the ALT Football tournament. For many of the children it was their first ever time stepping onto a football pitch. They showed great determination, resilience and teamwork with the B team finishing an impressive 3rd in their league and the A team being the undefeated champions of theirs! A big thank you to Mrs Dorling and Mrs Layzell for being there to support us (and help with first aid!) and thank you to all the families for cheering us on. Please can all kit be returned to school by Monday - next week it is the turn of the Year 4 boys. #proudtobeGrove

What a busy but fantastic week in Willow this week! 🤩We started our week with a visit from Animal Guyz; we got to learn a lot about a range of different animals. In Literacy we have been finalising our plans for our mystery narratives and we are super excited to start writing them next week. In PE we completed an orienteering challenge, working in pairs using a map to find the answer to a code. In PSHE this week, we were talking about personal qualities with each child writing down their own star qualities, it was so lovely to hear lots of positive conversations between the children when sharing their qualities. On Thursday, we walked to the church for our Harvest Service, I was very proud of how all children represented Willow! The children have really impressed me this week, their attitude to learning has been fantastic. Keep it up!⭐

Another busy, lovely week in Rose! We loved the Animal Guyz visit on Monday and our visit to the church on Thursday was very exciting! In Maths, we’ve been learning to add numbers and understand doubles. In Literacy, we had a mystery penguin arrive at school with a note explaining he was lost. We started to read Lost and Found and have made predictions for the story. In Art, the children designed their own characters ‘The Smighs’ and thought carefully about shape, line and texture. We have some fantastic artists! See you all on Monday!

Primrose I can't believe how quickly this term is flying by. This week we have looked at speech punctuation and setting descriptions in Literacy. In Science we found that magnets have 2 poles and they attract or repel each other. We loved the visit by the Animal Guyz and year 3 blew our socks off when they showed the ladies from Snape Maltings what they had been learning in their singing sessions. Finally in Art, we were inspired by Van Gogh and create our own pictures using oil pastels.

🌟SPEEDWELL🌟 What a busy but marvellous week we have had! We started the week with a visit from the incredible 'Animal Guyz' - we all loved meeting the animals and learning so much about them. In Literacy we completed writing our story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and were surprised by a note from a lost penguin on Wednesday! We started to explore our new book 'Lost and Found' today and made predictions based on what we know so far. We've been doubling and adding 1 digit numbers in Maths and in Science we used a classification chart to sort materials based on their properties. We designed our own characters in Art and continued our work on team building in PE. 💖A huge Thank You to those who helped to make our annual Harvest Festival church service such a success - it was a wonderful morning. In Oak class this week we have enjoyed building our team work and problem solving skills in PE; designing our own web pages in Computing and learning about the importance of the oceans in Geography. We also really enjoyed meeting the animals when the Animal Guyz came to visit.

⭐ Reception! ⭐ This week, we enjoyed reading 'We're Going to Find the Monster', learning lots of new vocabulary as we went on an exciting adventure through different environments. The children used watercolours to create their own adventure maps and then added labels. In maths, we have been developing our subitising skills, learning to recognise groups of 4, 5 and 6 without counting and spotting different ways that numbers can be represented. - Mr Cook, Miss Allen and the rest of the Reception team!

Its been an exciting week in Honeysuckle. We started the week with a visit from @theanimalguyz where we got to meet and learn about some endangered animals. It was fantastic. Thank you @GroveprimaryschoolPTFA for organising it for us! We then had a lost Penguin turn up in our classroom on Wednesday, we are looking forward to finding out how he got there in our new Literacy unit. On Thursday, we walked to the church for Harvest Festival and loved showing off our superb singing! Have a great weekend everyone!

Another busy but fun week in Snowdrop, the Year 4's continue to enjoy swimming whilst the Year 3's practice their swimming, we had a visit from animal guys where we learnt lots of amazing facts and saw some awesome animals. We have looked at how computers are connected, with children exploring apps to watch how they process. We walked to the Church for the harvest festival, thank you for the donations! We all did our best smiles for the photographer and created our final pieces in art today inspired by Van Gogh, have a lovely weekend!

⭐Our week in Bluebell! ⭐ On Monday we enjoyed sharing the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’. After reading the story we decorated some biscuit people, developing our fine motor skills to spread the icing and add raisins for eyes and buttons. We also had a visit from The Animal Guyz where we learnt lots about endangered animals and what we can to help the animals and our environment. On Tuesday we read the story ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ we then used bricks, blocks and recycling to build our own bridges for the goats to get across the river. Wednesday we make some puppets of characters from the stories we had read so we could tell our own versions of the story, we were great at this! On Thursday we visited the woods where we read ‘Stickman’ together. We then went on a stick hunt to find sticks to build our own stick people. We then took them on adventures around the woods. Friday we read ‘Little Red Hen’ where we learnt it is kind to help our friends when they ask for our help! We then worked together to bake our own loaf of bread which we enjoyed sharing together at snack time! It was delicious! In Phonics we have worked hard at hearing initial sounds in words as well as continuing to use our robot arms to segment and blend CVC words. In math’s we looked at the number 3, what it looks like, how to represent it and how to write it. We’ve had a lovely week in Bluebell, we hope you have a great weekend! Happy Friday from Poppy Class! We have had so much fun this week starting off with a visit from the Animal Guyz company! We also visited our local church for a Harvest Festival! The children have been working incredibly hard in all lessons this week, from character descriptions in Literacy to experimenting with shapes and line drawings in Art. Have a wonderful weekend all!

Give it a go club with Miss Rogers have been trying a variety of sports. So far we have tried football, tennis, basketball, skittle ball and then this week we turned our hand to golf, we tried putting and then made our own crazy golf courses. I wonder what sport we will try next!?

Year 3 were very lucky today to get a visit from Charlotte who is one of the singers for the Friday afternoon at Snape Maltings, we showed her how amazing we have been doing with all of the different songs and then practiced some more! Thank you for listening to us.
