This week in Reception, the children explored a magical world of giants, dragons and castles. They enjoyed reading ‘Shhh!’ by Sally Grindley and were inspired to design their own giant, before writing a simple sentence to describe it. The children learned all about castles, including moats, drawbridges and towers, and worked together to build castles and bridges using a range of construction materials. On Thursday, the children returned to the classroom to discover it had been attacked by a giant. They then learned about shields and designed and created their own to help protect the classroom from another attack.
In Maths this week, the children have been comparing numbers up to 10. They counted objects carefully and used number lines, ten frames and physical resources to help them decide which number was ‘more than’ or ‘less than’ another.
