Happy Friday! In Science, we continued our topic of forces by creating an experiment to test the strength of different types of magnets. In English this week we have finished writing our autobiographies, the children should be incredibly proud of their work! Shoutout to a child in Poppy Class who consistently completes amazing homework just like this one! Its lovely to see you wanting to continue your school learning at home. ⭐ Another lovely week in Reception! ⭐ This week, we have been learning about different emotions, talking about how we feel and exploring ways to help ourselves and our friends when we experience big feelings. The children have had some fantastic discussions and have shown great kindness towards one another. In maths, we have been exploring the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4, practising counting, subitising and finding different ways to represent numbers. We are so proud of how much confidence the children are showing and how well they are settling into Reception life. 🌟💛

What an amazing and busy week in Snowdrop! The Year 4's enjoyed swimming while the Year 3's enjoyed dance, Snowdrops have also tried various techniques on digital devices, deciding if we always need them. They enjoyed performing the Christmas dance on Wednesday and learning how to dribble with both their hands and feet confidently. In art, we have also been able to provide feedback to each other and reflect on this within our own work.

We have had another fun filled week in Primrose class! Whilst finishing our autobiographies in Literacy, we have enjoyed finding out more about each other. In Maths the year four children have been learning about Roman numerals and have completed some problem solving activities using this knowledge. In Science we have investigated magnetic and non-magnetic materials and we found out why some metals are magnetic and others are not. Finally, in computing we have comparing digital and non-digital ways of drawing and talked about which one we liked and why.

This week in Oak class we compared different search engines in Computing; took part in various team building games in PE; learn about 4 figure grid references in Geography and had a visit from Andrea from the church for RWV.

🌟ACTIVES🌟 Congratulations to this week's Actives! Well done for another week of super learning. We are very proud of all of you. We presented our second lot of TTRS/Numbots certificates too! It was very impressive to see some children take the double for their key stages - they really are trying to impress! 👀🎸 A special mention to our newly elected House Captains. Every pupil from Year 1 - 6 had the opportunity to vote after watching their presentations. Well done to all of those who took part. We look forward to seeing what prizes are arranged by these pupils as the year go on. ✨🏆

⭐Our week in Bluebell⭐ We have loved learning all about everybody’s families this week! We have drawn pictures of our family, designed our own dream pets and built houses out of blocks and bricks. The children also learnt how to sign Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister, I bet if you asked them they could show you. In math’s we have been learning to subitizes, which means using our fast eyes to find the total number of objects without counting. We have also introduced a ‘5 frame’ to use with numbers 1-5. In phonics we have been using our 'robot arms' to help us hear sounds in words, we have been great at this! We hope you have a lovely, restful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week. We’ve had a brilliant time in Elder this week! I continue to be blown away by how hard everyone works to be the best they can be. In PE, we took on some more challenges to build our problem solving skills working as a team, and developed our shooting skills in Handball. In Art, we started our landscape project inspired by Hundertwasser and sketched our layout before adding some colour with oil pastels. In Literacy, we’ve been working hard on different types of sentences using rainbow grammar, and focusing on tense and changing between past and present. In Science, we carried out an experiment to test which material was the best thermal insulator. We also had a visitor from the church where the children had the opportunity to ask questions about a Christian’s belief – their questions were fantastic and very thought provoking. It’s an amazing half term so far for Elder, keep up the amazing work!

🌹 What a gorgeous week in Rose! It’s been so lovely to see the children so engaged in their learning – super stars! We sequenced and retold The Gingerbread Man and have now started reading The Three Billy Goat’s Gruff. We have been comparing and ordering numbers in Maths. In Science we tested materials to see which were absorbent. We practiced dodging and changing direction in PE by playing a game of villains and superheroes. In Computing we were inspired by Matisse’s snail collage and created our own digital versions and in PSHE we recognised strategies to prevent spreading illnesses! We also had our treat of squash and biscuits today for our 100% attendance award which was lovely! Have a fab weekend, see you all next week 😊

Honeysuckle have had another busy week! In Maths, we compared numbers using the less than and greater than symbols. In PE, we became experts at dodging and changing direction - especially when escaping the villains in our Superhero game. In our teambuilding unit we gave instructions to our blindfolded partner. Computing this week saw us creating images inspired by Henri Matisse. In Science, we investigated which materials were waterproof and which were absorbent. Have a great weekend everyone!

🌟SPEEDWELL🌟 Another fabulous week for our Speedwellians! We have really worked hard comparing and ordering numbers in Maths, sequencing and retelling our traditional tale in Literacy and experimenting with absorbent and waterproof materials in Science! In Art we focused on observational drawings, learned about being germ free in PSHE and in R&WV we explored Puja and Hindu worship - exploring sacred items and asking questions about them to further our learning. What a fantastic week in Willow this week! ⭐ I am so proud of how the children have been active learners, engaging in discussions, showing a real enthusiasm for learning and aspiring to be the best they can be. In Art, we started our landscape pieces inspired by Hundertwasser, sketching out our background before adding some colour and definition with oil pastels. In PE we took on some more team challenges in OAA, working on communication and problem solving. We also developed our shooting skills in Handball. In Literacy, we’ve been working hard on different types of sentences using rainbow grammar, towards the end of the week, we focused on tense and changing between past and present. In Science, we worked in pairs and carried out an experiment to test which material was the best thermal insulator. A very busy but positive week, keep it up Willow! 🤩

🌟SPEEDWELL🌟 Another fabulous week in Speedwell! In Maths we have been finding 1 more than and 1 less than, in Literacy we re-told the traditional tale of the Little Red Hen and in Science we sorted materials by their properties. We had a brilliant time in PE exploring and working as a team with the parachute and showed great skill and creativity in Computing recreating the works of Mondrian! Honeysuckle have had a jam packed week! In PE we enjoyed working together to use the parachute. We were very proud of the dome we made with it. In Literacy, we loved acting out the story of the Little Red Hen and then starting our new story The Gingerbread man. We continued using Paintz in computing and created pictures inspired by Mondrian. Another excellent week in Willow class! ⭐The children have worked so hard! In Literacy, we started our new writing unit using ‘The Mysteries of Harris Burdick’ and the children have been enjoying exploring the different images and discussing what could have led up to it. In PE, we continued our team building skills focusing on communication and completing various team challenges and in Handball we focused on dribbling whilst using our three passes we remembered from last week. In Art, we have continued our work inspired by Hundertwasser; we used acetate and fine line markers to create a layered effect. We also enjoyed a lovely treat of squash and biscuits this morning, this was due to winning the attendance award last week!🤩 Have a good weekend Willow!

Another excellent week in Elder class!👏In PE, we continued our team building skills focusing on communication to work effectively to complete various challenges. It has been another lovely week in Snowdrop! We have written our autobiography introductions, investigated contact forces and non-contact forces, drawn close-up pictures inspired by a story and our imaginations and are becoming increasingly more confident within our tracking and accuracy skills in PE! Another great week in the Primrose class. We have been learning how we can use tone to make our objects look 3D. We investigated contact and non-contact forces in Science and we looked at how mountains and rivers can play a part in determining where human features maybe located. Have a fabulous weekend!

Another great week in Poppy Class! We began writing our autobiographies and shared them with our class! In Science this week, we created an investigation looking at magnetic and non magnetic objects around our classroom. This afternoon, we had outdoor P.E in the sunshine and practised ball skills such as throwing and dribbling.

⭐Wow! What a great couple of week back in Bluebell Class!⭐ This week we have been learning all about ourselves, about our bodies and what makes us unique. We have read 'The Same but Different Too' which lead us to compare out facial features with our peers and talk about what makes us the same and different. Our task this week was to draw a self portrait, which we have added to a wall to make a gallery. In phonics we have been listening to environmental sounds and copying beats with musical instruments. In maths we have been looking at counting and singing counting songs. Next week we are looking at our families, and different types of families. ⭐ Another fantastic week in Reception! ⭐ This week, we enjoyed sharing and celebrating our families, learning that every family is different and special. The children loved talking about the people who are important to them and creating pictures of their families. In maths, we have been exploring the numbers 1, 2 and 3, matching numerals to quantities and beginning to develop our subitising skills by recognising small amounts without counting. We have also been so impressed with the children's growing confidence and independence. They continue to make new friends, show kindness to one another and settle brilliantly into Reception. Well done, Reception! 🌟💛 - Mr Cook, Miss Allen and the rest of the Reception team!

In Maths, we have been finding one more and one less using tens frames. In Science, we sorted objects thinking about their material. 🌟ACTIVES🌟 A big well done to this week's Actives! It was wonderful to hear about the wonderful interactions between peers and successes within the classroom too. Great work everyone ✨ We also introduced our brand new certificates which celebrate pupil's efforts on NumBots (Year 1) and TTRS over the week. We will celebrate this every week as we know what a huge impact quick arithmetic can have on our pupil's learning and understanding as they move through their educational journey and into the real world of work.
