🌟Speedwell🌟 We have had a jam packed week in Speedwell - but what a fabulous week it has been! On Monday we enjoyed watching the year 6's in their dress rehearsal of 'The Wizard of Oz' and had a treat as the Wicked Witch came to visit us in our classroom! We met a wonderful dentist on Tuesday to teach us about oral health - the children were very interested and asked lots of sensible questions. Today we had the best time on the inflatables. We were lucky enough to have 3 Speedwellians representing year 1 ad 2 in the ALT running races. They made us so proud and ran their socks off! In Maths we have been learning about position and direction, in Literacy we published our story's based on 'The Secret of Black Rock' and then shared them with our reception friends. We learned about jumping high and long in Athletics - we were very impressed with their resilience and determination. In History we compared the lives and careers of our 2 local musicians - Benjamin Britten and Ed Sheeran and have been enjoying listening to their music and in Computing we designed and made our own quizzes using Scratch Jr. Have a wonderful weekend. UKS2 in London! ✨🚌🏛️🎭 The children were in awe as we explored the city and took in some of its most famous landmarks, including the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they spotted these iconic sights and learnt more about the capital city. We then headed to the West End to watch the outstanding production of Hercules. The children were completely captivated by the performance and blown away by the incredible voices, energy and talent of the cast. It was a truly memorable experience for everyone. We hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we did! Well done UKS2 ❤️

What a fun week it's been in Rose! 🌹 In Literacy we published our stories and shared them with our reception friends while in Maths we have been learning about position and direction. We enjoyed some relaxing yoga for indoor PE and practised jumping in outdoor PE. In Computing we started creating a quiz using Scratch jr and in RWV we compared different religions and considered Humanism. We also had a visit from the dentist, watched the Year 6 play 'The Wizard of Oz' and finished the week with fun on the inflatables. Two more weeks to go - have a great weekend. What a special morning we had on Wednesday at our Year 6 Leavers' Assembly.⭐ With the whole school and families gathered, we celebrated an amazing group of children as they prepare to leave primary school and begin their next adventure. One of our favourite parts was hearing the teachers share speeches about each child individually, reflecting on their unique personalities, achievements and the wonderful contributions they've made during their time with us. The Year 6's then spoke so confidently about their favourite memories of primary school and the staff members who have helped and inspired them along the way. There were also some lovely words from our younger children, who spoke about how much the Year 6's mean to them and to the school as role models, friends and leaders. It was incredibly touching to hear. There was plenty of laughter, lots of singing, certificates celebrating some outstanding achievements and, of course, a few tears! We are so incredibly proud of every single one of our Year 6 leavers. It has been a privilege to watch them grow into such kind, confident and capable young people. They will be missed more than they know, but we can't wait to see all the amazing things they go on to achieve. Good luck, Year 6, you'll always be part of our Grove family. ❤️

This week in Reception we have been learning about weather. The children started the week by reading ‘Meet the Weather’ where we practised labelling and naming different weather types. The children then went outside to observe the weather and created their own weather reports. Later in the week, the children watched weather reporters in action before creating their own weather report videos using props. In maths the children have been learning about ‘takeaway’ and ‘subtraction’. They learned that when we ‘takeaway’, the amount gets smaller. The children also explored subtraction number sentences such as ‘2-1=1’. To end the week, the children took part in ‘Inflatables Day’ where the children had lots of fun on the bouncy castle and obstacle course.

What another fabulous week in Snowdrop class, we have started writing our discursive texts, asking the question "Do people enjoy living by the seaside?" We are so proud of the Year 6's, what a lovely performance they put on for us all! We have also created our own sandwiches for a lunchbox that includes a balanced diet, followed various rhythms, pitches and beats within music, made rafts in woodlands and most importantly, ended our week with inflatable fun! This week, Poppy Class enjoyed preparing their healthy lunchboxes. It was a great way for them to demonstrate their understanding of balanced diets. Whilst during Music, they got to use boomwhackers!

Grove Record Breakers! On Tuesday, Grove took part in the ALT Running Relay Competition. We took along teams from Years 1 - 6. The teams were made up of 2 boys and 2 girls, each had to run a 300m lap. There were lots of nerves at the beginning but each child showed great resilience and courage to overcome them. Year 6 were the first team to go and stormed around the track to claim 1st place and Gold! This was then followed by Year 4, Year 2, Year 1 and Year 5 who were all magnificent, each coming first and winning a gold medal. In the previous 2 years Grove won 5 of the 6 races and so with just Year 3 left to go were on to break the record. Year 3 didn't let the nerves show and zoomed around the track to win Grove's 6th and record breaking Gold! We are so proud of all the children. They showed great teamwork, encouraging and supporting each other. A big, big thank you to all the parents and staff who came along to support, we wouldn't be able to attend these events without you. We hope you all still have voices left after all the cheering! #recordbreakers #proudtobegrove!

Year 6 – you absolutely smashed the performance of ‘Wizard of Oz’ for your leavers play! It has been a true pleasure putting this show together with you, I have loved every moment of it. You all worked so hard to learn your lines and bring your character’s to life, your singing was sensational and blew me away! I couldn’t be prouder of the superstars you all are – I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you end up on stage in the future! Seeing you all have the best time and enjoy every moment of the shows together has been really lovely to see. Thank you for being such a fantastic group of performers! You should all be very proud of yourselves.

💖Dance Festival💖 On Wednesday 17th June Mrs Ball, Mrs Clarke and Miss Rogers took 20 children from years 1-5 to the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft to take part in the annual schools Dance Festival. Their performances were absolutely incredible! They danced their socks off, behaved impeccably and showed everyone what fun looks like! We could not be more proud of them all. A huge thank you to all the families and staff who came out to support them - we are sure we got the biggest cheer of the night.

🌟Speedwell🌟 A super hot but fun week in Speedwell! In Literacy we have written our narrative based on 'The Secret of Black Rock' and are impressed with the quality of the children's writing! We have had a lot of fun with water in Maths exploring capacity and volume. In Computing we created quizzes using Scratch Jr, we made a salad following a recipe in DT and had the opportunity to taste it too (although, not everybody loved it)! In PE we finished our Dance unit with matching and mirroring moves and in Athletics we explored the differences in our bodies when we walk, jog and sprint. This week in Nursery we read 'The Treasure of Pirate Frank' and we made our own treasure maps. In Maths we have recapped the numbers from one to five and how they can be made. We finished the week with some water fun!

What an extremely hot end to another busy week in Rose! Well done to everyone for being resilient in the heat! We've been learning about capacity and volume this week in Maths, measuring in cups and ml and l. In Literacy we've written our narratives for The Secret of Black Rock. We learnt about a new significant person in History - Ed Sheeran and in Computing we designed a program on Scratch. We did Athletics and Dance for PE. This afternoon we followed a recipe and practised skills to make a salad which some of us enjoyed! Then we designed our own salads to make. Have a restful weekend, see you all on Monday!

This week in Reception, the children have been brining together everything they have learnt about Antarctica and South Korea. They worked as a class to create own class presentation, where they shared facts about the places such as housing, food, animals etc. The children then shared their presentations with the other class. We also spent time in the woodlands using our senses, thinking about what we could see, hear, smell and feel in the natural environment and then made drawings inspired by these senses. In maths, we have been learning about odd and even numbers. The children explored which numbers can be shared into equal groups and which cannot. We also talked about how to recognise if a number is odd or even and practised explaining our thinking. We then ended our week with some water play, which the children loved! There were lots of laughter and giggles as the children splashed, sprayed and squirted water at each other. - Mr Cook, Mrs Songhurst, Mrs Day and Mrs Varney!

What a busy and hot week we have had! We have continued looking at what needs to be included within a discursive text and have used opposing conjunctions to create arguments, lots of the children said that the seagulls are a negative to the seaside! We have also safely and with great control used knives to whittle sticks. We completed a hop, skip and a jump within PE, having a competition as to which group could go the furthest, set up a science experiment with some plants and recorded a podcast based off of the plans we created last week! This week, Poppy Class have continued to hone their woodland skills by using safety knives to whittle cross pieces for their mini rafts; used Rainbow Grammar to create quotes for discursive texts and continued to replicate simple pieces of music using different percussion instruments.

🌟Speedwell🌟 What a super busy week we've had! In Literacy we finished reading our story 'The Secret of Black Rock' and have begun to plan our narrative. We used scales to measure mass in Maths and used the 4 operations to work out problems involving mass. In Science we continued learning about plants and used our knowledge on our trip to Somerleyton Hall Gardens where we enjoyed walking round the gardens, identifying trees, plants and flowers and had fun navigating the maze! The children were outstanding Active Citizens and represented Grove and Speedwell beautifully. On Tuesday we were incredibly proud again of the children as they took part in sports day. Rose Class🌹 Rose Class had a wonderful time at Somerleyton Hall today! It was a lovely, sunny day (perhaps even a little too hot at times!) for exploring the beautiful gardens. The children enjoyed observing the wide variety of plants and completed some fantastic observational drawings inspired by what they saw. Throughout the day, the children took part in tree and bug hunts, and we even completed our own colour hunt around the grounds. In the afternoon, we challenged ourselves to navigate the maze and find our way to the centre—we succeeded! After this sweaty endeavour, we cooled off in the shade, spending some time relaxing and playing noughts and crosses with our friends. A huge thank you to all of our parent helpers who joined us today. We hope you had a lovely time too and enjoyed sharing this experience with the children. 🌳🌻 Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sunshine! Miss Fayers, Miss Thacker, Miss Rough.
