This week in Reception, we have been learning all about our local area, Lowestoft. The children enjoyed looking at maps, talking about what makes our town special and sharing what they already know. We also went on a walk around the local area, where the children spotted landmarks and took photos of things they recognised. To finish the week, we explored how plants grow by learning about the life cycle of a dandelion.
In maths, we have been learning about doubling. The children explored what it means to have “twice as many” using dominoes, dice and practical resources. They practised spotting doubles, saying simple number facts such as “double 2 is 4,” and used frames and counters to help them represent their ideas.
